Cllr Kavanagh cited that the route is popular with walkers
Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh has called for funding to be made available for public lighting provisions along the Ballyraine Road.
Cllr Kavanagh raised the motion at the Letterkenny-Milford MD meeting.
He said: “It’s a very popular walking route and it’s busy with students from ATU walking into town. There are many students living there and the whole area without lights.”
Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly seconded the motion for more lighting to be introduced.

In response, David McIIwaine, Senior Executive Engineer, Roads said: “The Active travel program for Letterkenny Town includes a scheme on the Ballyraine Road. At the May plenary council meeting, Part 8 planning was received for this active travel scheme.
“This project will now progress to the detail design stage and as part of this process the public lighting requirements for the road will be reviewed and where deemed necessary will be upgraded.”
