A signpost at Ramelton bridge that was knocked down by Storm Eowyn in January still hasn’t been repaired - and it’s causing confusion for tourists.

Ramelton-based Cllr Pauric McGarvey asked that the missing signage be re-installed “as a matter of urgency” at a meeting of Letterkenny-Milford MD.

He said that since Storm Eowyn knocked over the sign, “people don’t know where to go to Rathmullan, Milford, Lough Swilly Ferry, Drumhalla House, cycle lanes and the Wild Atlantic Way,” and this is proving a problem in tourist season.

Cathaoirleach Ciaran Brogan seconded the motion.

David McIlwaine, Senior Executive Engineer, Roads, said that an assessment is being carried out to determine the work needed, but it is a difficult location as there’s a drop off below.

The sign will be included in the programme of works once a method is established.
