The Mayor of Donegal Town, Anna Gallagher, with other participants of the Donegal Hospice walk
Donegal Hospice invited members of the public to join a gentle community walk as part of Palliative Care Week.
The walk began at the Donegal Hospice car park, located at Knocknamona, Letterkenny, and onto Bernard McGlinchey Town Park and returned to the Hospice for a Palliative Pause in the gardens for a moment of reflection to remember loved ones and light a candle in their memory. The Polestar Roundabout in the town was lit up for the occasion.
“We walked with purpose as part of Palliative Care Week,” the Mayor of Donegal Town, Anna Gallagher, said. “Together we set out from Donegal Hospice and shared a journey filled with rain showers, dark clouds, bursts of sunshine, and a double rainbow. It struck me that the evening mirrored life itself: unpredictable, sometimes stormy, sometimes bright and always changing.

"The rainbow reminds us to be the light in other people's darker days. This is exactly what the staff in Donegal Hospice do every single day as they dedicate themselves to bringing care, comfort, compassion and dignity to our loved ones in Palliative care. We remember all who have passed.”
