Tributes have been paid to the late Victor Fisher, who passed away at the age of 85.
Originally from Ramelton, Victor of Anfield Grove, Kiltoy, Letterkenny, Donegal (F92 CF6A) was a former member of Letterkenny Town Council and was Mayor of Letterkenny for three terms. The gift shop proprietor was elected to Letterkenny Urban District Council seven consecutive times.
Letterkenny Rovers said of their honorary president: “The club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our Club President Victor Fisher,” the club posted.
“While Victor fulfilled many roles across different organisations, he was a man who gave great service to our club. He made a hugely significant contribution over a number of years through his fundraising efforts, selling club lotto tickets and establishing our club bingo in the Station House Hotel.
“His hard work and dedication played a pivotal role in the development of our facilities at Leckview Park. Victor always took great pride in the club’s achievements and was honoured to hold the position of Club President since 2023. He leaves us with many fond memories and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
“As a mark of respect, all club fixtures have been postponed this weekend. We send our deepest condolences to his wife Helen and all the Fisher family at this sad time.
Lagan Harps FC posted: “We were saddened to hear of the passing of well known Letterkenny man Victor Fisher. Victor gave great service as a Councilor through the years as well as his service in sport to Finn Harps and Letterkenny Rovers. A lot of us would also remember him from the Golden Grill. To all his family and many friends we extend our condolences. May he rest in peace. He'll be greatly missed.”
Victor will be reposing at his home from 11am on Saturday, September 13, to 12 noon on Sunday, September 14. Funeral from there at 12.45pm going to St Eunan's Cathedral for Funeral Mass at 1.30pm. Interment afterwards in the family plot at New Leck Cemetery.

Predeceased by his parents George and Francis, baby brother Terence and Carl, sisters Isabel and Georgina. Deeply regretted by his wife Helen (nee price), daughter Mairead, (Jonny), sons David (Justine), Kevin (Clara) and Barry, grandchildren, Jordan, Tori, Daragh, Luke, Renee, Rudi, Noah, Theo, Kaia Rey, Kasey Mae, great-grandson Leo, sister Eileen (Hull), in laws, relatives, neighbours and friends.
