The funding will respond to the current emergency in Gaza and provide access to essential health services and build local knowledge and skills to address Palestinian health problems

Letterkenny raises much-needed funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees

Letterkenny’s Gig for Gaza #3 raised €5,275 for the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). 

The funding will respond to the current emergency in Gaza and provide access to essential health services and build local knowledge and skills to address Palestinian health problems.

An Grianán Theatre donated the total amount made on ticket sales, which was €4,165. The raffle for a painting donated by local artist Karen Tinny raised €1,060. Local chemist Tom Murray donated a further €500. The staff at Burrito Loco donated €100 from their tips.

The Donegal Branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign wish to give a big thank you to all those who supported and attended the third Gig for Gaza in An Grianán Theatre on Sunday.

“We would like to thank the musicians who performed on the night, who were: The Henry Girls, Joleen, Karen and Lorna McLaughlin from Malin, who were accompanied by Roisin, Ella and Deirdre McGrory from Culdaff; Reem Anbar, the celebrated Oud player from Gaza; Ríoghnach Connolly from Armagh and Manchester, who was accompanied by Alison Crossey, Aoibheann Devlin and Déaglán ÓDoibhlin; and Miya O’Brien from Killea,” they said. 

“We would like to sincerely thank Patricia McBride and all in An Grianán Theatre, especially Sam, Hughie and Barry, the stage and technical team, for all their hard work and support. Tommy & Leah O'Brien from Burrito Loco and Kinnegar Brewery, who provided food and refreshments for the artists. John Muldowney who organised  Go Fund Me to bring Gaza musician Reem Anbar; Ciarán Dunlevy local artist and comedian who compared the evening; Tom Murray from Murray Pharmacies for the €500 donation; Bernadette Hopkins for the design of poster, Tim Spalding for social media compilation, Tommy O’Brien for the photography; the DIPSC volunteers who put up posters around the county and staffed the merchandise stalls; ATU Palestine Solidarity Society for the placards, Karen Tinney for donating her picture for the raffle. Fadl Mustapha for pulling and holding it all together.

“Finally, we want to say a big thank you to the audience who contributed so generously and whose participation made the evening so special.”
