Over 400 Donegal children to receive Christmas gifts thanks to local TCS staff

Over 400 children across Donegal will receive Christmas gifts thanks to employees at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Letterkenny.

Employees at TCS have once again demonstrated extraordinary festive spirit, with over 100 staff members volunteering as 'Secret Santas'.

TCS have been contributing to the Donegal LifeStart Services Christmas Toy Appeal for the last three years, with this year marking their largest contribution to date. This year’s incredible generosity saw staff members coming together to purchase a record number of toys through the Secret Santa initiative bringing much needed joy to families in Donegal facing financial pressure.

Mary Walker Callaghan, Regional Manager of Lifestart Services, collected the substantial toy donation from the TCS Global Delivery Centre this week, ready to deliver to families in need across Donegal in time for Christmas.

Thanking the team at TCS, Mary said: “The level of need and disadvantage in Donegal continues to be extremely high and is sadly increasing year on year. In 2022 we had a list of 100 children that needed our support and last year that list was up to 400 children. Poverty is on the rise and people are struggling with cost-of-living pressures and the reality is that without our toy appeal, some children in Donegal would not receive a present this Christmas. I want to thank the staff at TCS for their incredible contribution that will bring so much joy and comfort to many children and their families throughout Donegal.”

The initiative embodies the powerful message that every toy given is more than just a present, it’s a message that someone cares. Over the last month, volunteers from TCS acted as Secret Santas, where they were paired with a child and given anonymous information such as age, gender, and helpful hints to choose the ideal gifts.
