Donegal County Council will hold a civic reception for world record-breaking Letterkenny athlete Caitriona Jennings.
The civic reception was proposed by the Cathaoirleach, Fianna Fáil Cllr Paul Canning. A date will be arranged in due course.
In November of last year, Letterkenny AC’s Jennings broke the world record for for women in 100 miles, as she ran 12 hours, 37 minutes and four seconds in completing the Tunnel Hill 100 Mile, held in Illinois, USA.
In her debut 100-mile race, Jennings beat the previous 12:42:40 world record off Camille Herron, set in 2017 at the Tunnel Hill 100 Mill.
Also in 2025, Jennings broke the Irish 50k record at the Donadea 50km National Championships when going 3:16:33, and she also holds the Irish 100km record, the 7:43:01 she set in 2021.

Jennings was named as the ultra runner of the year at the 123.ie National Athletics Awards in November.
Civic receptions were also agreed for Irish Champion jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle and the Donegal men’s darts team, who won their 15th All-Ireland Championship last month.
