The family of the late Ronan Roddy have expressed their gratitude to all at Mac's Deli in Letterkenny.

Ronan, from Trenamullin, Stranorlar, passed away at the Donegal Hospice following an illness last month. He was a popular figure at Mac's De, which is owned by Eunan MacIntyre and family, where he worked for 26 years.

Last week he was remembered by Finn Harps, where he volunteered as a steward, as they took on Galway United in their opening match of the SSE Airtricity League Division One.

"After the sad passing of Ronan, the family would like to acknowledge the support of Eunan, Rachel and all the staff at Macs Deli throughout his illness," read the message, which was shared on Mac's Mace facebook today.

"Not only did Ronan regard Mac's Deli as his workplace, but all those staff and customers over the 26 years, were his second family. Since starting at Macs Deli aged 18, with the shop's support, he grew in confidence over the years and became their longest serving staff member. The whole shop community and Ronan built up a very special relationship. The extensive outpouring of grief and condolences from the Letterkenny community made us appreciate the impact that Ronan made in his 44 years. Our sincere thanks to all."

Ronan's months mind mass be held on Saturday at 6pm at Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar.
