Intruder takes off running following theft in Letterkenny

Gardaí are investigating a burglary where a man took off running from a house at Gortlee in Letterkenny and was last seen making his way into Whitethorn

Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred in the Gortlee Road area of Letterkenny on Saturday, April 15, at approximately 4.45pm.

The resident of a house in that area returned home to discover an unknown male standing at their rear door. The male upon seeing that the resident had returned home took off running in the direction of Whitethorn. The rear window of the house had been smashed and entry had been gained.

A number of rooms had been disturbed and a small amount of cash had been stolen. The male was described as being quite tall with short hair and he was wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket.

"We appeal to anybody who believes that they may have seen this man in the area of the Gortlee Road or in the area of Whitethorn to make contact with us," a Garda spokesperson said. "If anybody travelled on the Gortlee Road or in the Whitethorn area between 4.15pm and 5pm who had a dash cam we ask them to contact us also. Gardaí in Letterkenny may be contacted on 074-9167100.
