Mr Chippie at Station Roundabout in Letterkenny
The Mr Chippie Group has acquired the Stateside American Restaurant, which will open next week under a new name.
'Smokes N Grills' will open its doors from 12 noon on Wednesday, June 12, it has been announced.
The news comes hot on the heels of confirmation that the American-themed Stateside diner closed its doors after 12 years in business.
“It’s always sad saying goodbyes and letting you all know that our doors are now closed,” Stateside owner Patricia Hill wrote in a message to customers.
“The 12 year Stateside story now comes to an end, but a new venture will open shortly in its place.”
Ms Hill said her main aim was to ensure that staff jobs remained secure with the new owner and has assured customers that all vouchers will be honoured by the new business.
She said: “I do hope you support them as much as you all supported me. It’s been a pleasure to serve you all and share my own adventure with so many people along the way.
“I’ve watched so many children grow up from babies and shared so many wonderful journeys with you all. Your company has given me much joy and happiness.”
The Mr Chippie Group, which first opened in 1998 and currently has outlets at Station Roundabout and Mountain Top, announced that they are set to take over the Stateside emporium at Riverside Retail Park.
“We can’t wait to serve you all new tasty dishes at an affordable price,” they said.
