Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign calls on Donegal to 'stand up for Palestine'

The newest branch of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign has been established in Donegal.

It has called a march and rally in Letterkenny in solidarity with the people of Gaza for this Saturday, November 11. The new Donegal branch has been established as the death toll rises in Gaza to over 10,000, including more than 4,100 children and 2,600 women.

Donegal IPSC has been set up to share information about the IPSC and their local solidarity activities.

“The Branch in Donegal has been established to coordinate solidarity activities across the county,” the Donegal IPSC Branch Chair, Eyad Meshael said. “We are a group of ordinary community activists, campaigners, trade unionists, and business owners horrified at the slaughter of innocent people.

“Some of our committee members are from Palestine or have relatives living in Gaza and the West Bank. As a civil society, we wanted to act together for Palestine and to that end, we have many solidarity and fundraising activities planned over the coming weeks and months”.

The march and rally have been jointly called between the IPSC and Trade Union Friends of Palestine (TUFP).

“The unfolding horror in Gaza has moved us to organise this solidarity march and rally,” Trade Friends of Palestine national chair, Richy Carrothers said. “We are witnessing genocide in Gaza as the Israeli Occupation Forces carry out the indiscriminate slaughter of innocent people with over 10,000 people killed, including 4,100 children in the last four weeks.

“Trade Union Friends of Palestine and the newly launched Donegal branch of the IPSC are calling on the Donegal public to stand up for Palestine and to join us on Saturday, November 11, leaving the upper carpark at St Conals Hospital at 1pm and marching to the An Grianan Theatre. We are asking people to bring their flags and whistles as we stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people as we call for an immediate ceasefire”.
