The Rathmullan Polar Plunge has been posted until a later date
The annual Rathmullan Polar Plunge has been postponed, following the announcement of a status orange weather warning.
A Status Orange, Wind warning for Donegal was issued by Met Eireann in the early hours of Saturday morning after it was upgraded from a yellow alert issued on Friday afternoon. The weather warning remains in place until Saturday at 6pm, with the event scheduled to take place today.
"Unfortunately due to the Orange Storm Weather Warning we have decided to postpone the polar plunge," event organisers have said. "A new date will be published in due course. Very sorry for any inconvenience caused at this short notice, safety of our plungers is paramount."
Special Olympics Ireland’s charity partners Gala Retail are sponsors for the event, and the activities organised to support the Polar Plunge Rathmullan are funded by the International Fund for Ireland under the Communities in Partnership Programme.
