Letterkenny gardaí issue stark warning after four drug-driving arrests in two days

Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit arrested four drivers between Friday and Saturday on suspicion of drug driving.

One tested positive for cocaine and the other tested positive for cannabis on Friday before two drug-driving related arrests were also made today by Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit today, Saturday.

The first driver tested positive for cannabis today, with the second driver testing positive for benzodiazepines and cannabis. They also had no driving licence and their car was seized.

“These drivers will now have to face the consequences of their poor decisions,” An Garda Siochana warned. “Driving while under the influence of drugs is irresponsible and dangerous. Please have regard for your own safety and the safety of other road users. Never drive under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Help us save lives on the roads.

“There is no hiding drug driving! Remember, An Garda Síochána can test for cannabis, cocaine, opiates, benzodiazepines, amphetamine and methamphetamine at roadside checkpoints.”
