Various buildings in Letterkenny town are in a dilapidated state
A man living in Letterkenny has expressed his dissatisfaction over the current state of Letterkenny town.
Christy Galligan, a retired Garda Sergeant, has likened some of the town’s buildings to an “eyesore” and said that some are a danger to the general public due to being in a “dangerous dilapidated condition.”
“Looking around Letterkenny Town one wonders what must happen in order that disused and derelict buildings are brought back into use,” he wrote. “These eyesores, which have been vacant and unused for many years, are a blight on this once vibrant town.
“One gets the impression that state agencies, chambers of commerce and local councils, don't know what to do with these buildings, other than knock them down, because they are in such a dangerous dilapidated condition. Embarassing is not the word when it comes to a town that should entice tourists and locals alike to enjoy and feel welcome, but which has allowed itself to become our capital of decay.”
