A prizewinning artwork chosen from this year’s 70th Texaco Children’s Art Competition entitled ‘Man to Machine’, by 16-year old Weronika Jarosinska, a pupil at Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny.
Weronika's was one of four Irish paintings exhibited at the 25th International High School Arts Festival which took place in Tokyo recently.
Sponsored by the International Foundation for Arts and Culture, the International High School Arts Festival is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious exhibitions to take place in Tokyo annually. Described as ‘a showcase for the world’s best young artistic talent’, it featured the top 500 artworks selected from up to 15,000 works submitted by students worldwide.
Other 2024 Texaco winning artworks displayed were ‘Anticipation’ by Charley Bell (age 17), from Methodist College, Belfast; ‘Best Friends’ by Eimear Fitzgerald (16), from Ennis Art School and ‘Unconditional Love’ by Darragh Granahan (15), from Gort Community School.
