An Garda Siochana have paid tribute to their Honorary Garda Danny McLaughlin, who sadly passed away on Sunday.

Hononary Garda Danny from Trentagh had recently graduated and was made feel right at home with his new colleagues.

“In the arms of the angels,” An Garda Siochana Donegal posted. “Our hearts are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Honorary Garda Danny Mc Laughlin (HG 622) from Trentagh. Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents, Michael and Annie, his twin brother Charlie and with his extended family and friends. Our little colleague, our little friend and one of our biggest heroes forever. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

Earlier this month, Danny had a very special graduation day with his new front-line colleagues including the fire service, Coast Guard service and ambulance personnel along with his family and friends and was presented with his certificate by Sergeant Gráinne McLoone and Sergeant Charlene Anderson.

Danny passed peacefully at his late residence - Tirargus, Trentagh, Churchill, Donegal, F92 Y5X9 - surrounded by his loving family.

Missed and loved so much by his heartbroken parents Michael, Annie and twin brother Charlie. Deeply regretted by grandparents, Marcus and Teresa, Sabrina and Livinius. Fondly remembered by his uncle Marcus, aunts Orla and Megan, extended family members, neighbours and friends.

Danny's remains are reposing at his late residence. Funeral from there on Tuesday morning, February 25, for mass of the Angels in St Colmcille’s Church, Glendowan at 12 noon, followed by interment in Gartan cemetery. House private to family, neighbours and close friends. Strictly private on the morning of the funeral. Family flowers only please.
