Call for more pedestrian access to Bernard McGlinchey Town Park

Residents in nearby housing estates have been looking for more pedestrian links to Bernard McGlinchey Town Park

A call has been made for Donegal Couty Council to increase the number of access lanes to the Bernard McGlinchey Town Park from surrounding housing estates to help the park fulfill its full potential.
Cllr Donal Kelly said residents in nearby housing estates have been looking for more links into the park. He also called for existing links to be upgraded.
Speaking at the June meeting of the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District, Cllr Kelly said the improvement of links would help the park get better use, encourage more people to walk to the park and help alleviate traffic congestion.

Donegal County Council said it has received funding from the National Transport Agency’s active travel schemes and options for improving pedestrian and cycle links through the town are being assessed. It said one of the schemes being progressed is the improvement of the connections between Whitehorn Housing estate and the town park.
