Gallery: Over €10,000 saved as Loreto Milford hold 'sustainable' prom

Students from Loreto Community School in Milford pledged to make at last one 'sustainable' effort

Sixth year students at Loreto Community School in Milford helped to save in excess of €10,000 with a sustainable effort at their porom.

The Leaving Certificate class came up with the unique idea and the Silver Tassie Hotel was the picture of glam on Thursday night.

The Prom committee took on the challenge to make it more sustainable and cruelty free for their special night.

Each student pledged to make one effort to become more sustainable and reduce their carbon footprint and the school's Parents Association sponsored four prizes of €25 for the most sustainable efforts.

The students made the savings by, for example, borrowing accessories, re-wearing an outfit or carpooling.
