Black Square Café, which is located on Letterkenny's Church Lane
The owners of Black Square Café in Letterkenny have made the decision not to reopen in the new year and say there is an opportunity for interested parties to continue the business.
Michael and Mary Black opened on Church Lane in Letterkenny in November having taken over from Anna Good, who ran Wholegreen. However, Michael has since confirmed the closure for personal reasons and has thanked everyone for their support in recent weeks.
“It’s with huge disappointment that I have to announce that I won’t be opening the cafe after the holidays and we will close officially on the 31st December,” read his post on social media.
“This is purely for personal reasons and is no reflection on the business or the amazing staff that have helped me over the last couple of months. I have to accept that this is just not my time and rebuild for the year ahead.
“The business has had a huge amount of time, effort and money put in over the last couple of months, and is ready-made for someone to step in with zero work to do. In the short time we were open we received fantastic support from customers, suppliers and local businesses and I must thank everyone who called in.
“I have no doubt that this can continue and there is a place and need for this business on the Church Lane. If anyone is interested in taking up this challenge and taking over a successful business please contact me directly either through the social channels or call me on 083-3746607. Thanks everyone.”
