Works have commenced on the Raphoe to Convoy road
Long-awaited works have begun on a road between Raphoe and Convoy which was awarded €170,000 in safety funding.
Cllr Patrick McGowan of Lifford-Stranorlar MD welcomes the update from Donegal County Council that they have received an allocation of €170,000 for safety improvement works on the R236 between Convoy and Raphoe. Construction has commenced on the R236 Burnside Scheme which will include the installation of 252m of Vehicle Restraint System (VRS)/Crash Barrier.
The current programme commenced on October 15 and works are scheduled to be completed on October 31.

There is an additional 1700m of VRS to be designed before the end of this year and it is proposed to submit a large-scale low-cost safety improvement submission to the DoT for continuation of barrier installation in 2026 which will target the sections with the highest severity of risk. These additional works will be subject to funding.
