In addition, council planners opened 36 new enforcement cases last year, and closed 23

Almost 200 planning enforcement cases are outstanding in the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District (MD), some dating back to 2012.

The figures, revealed at the monthly meeting of the MD, confirmed there were 195 ‘live’ files for alleged unauthorised developments. In addition, council planners opened 36 new enforcement cases last year, and closed 23. 

Meanwhile, 304 planning new applications were received from the area last year.

Of these, 242 were granted, ‘Further Information’ was sought in relation to 89 cases, 49 were ruled ‘invalid’ and just eight were refused.
