Uisce Éireann is advising of a restriction to the water supply tonight in Ballybofey and Stranorlar.
Reduced pressure or intermittent supply is to be expected from 10pm tonight until 7am on Thursday. The restrictions are to assist the recovery of reservoir levels following essential maintenance works carried out on Tuesday.

“We regret any inconvenience as a result of these overnight restrictions,” Uisce Éireann’s Damien O’Sullivan said. “The maintenance works carried out yesterday were essential for the long‑term resilience of the supply, but they have contributed to lower-than-normal reservoir levels. Overnight restrictions are now required to support recovery.
“We are appealing to all customers in the impacted areas to conserve water where possible as the reservoirs replenish. Even small reductions in usage can collectively make a significant difference to supply levels.”
Uisce Éireann have advised saving water at home by taking shorter showers, fixing leaks, and turning off the tap when it's not in use. On the farm, the advice is to fix overflow, use dry-cleaning techniques in yards, reuse clean plate cooler water where possible, consider rainwater harvesting solutions and protect local water sources by reducing livestock access.
