Local elections: Kelly an emphatic frontrunner in Letterkenny but lots to fight for

In the Letterkenny LEA, Donal Mandy Kelly had an impressive outing after the tallies were counted.

The Glenswilly native clocked 1,791 votes, to give him 14 per cent.

Kelly was over the moon, and mentioned the emotion involved when he spoke to Chris McNulty.

Ciaran Brogan, Kelly's Fianna Fáil running partner, looks solid, with Tomás Seán Devine, 100% Redress Party, doing very well to add to their successes in Inishowen.

There are 18 candidates seeking seven seats in the LEA which makes up part of the Letterkenny-Milford municipal district. All seven sitting councillors are defending their seats. They are: Kevin Bradley (non-party), Gerry McMonagle (Sinn Féin), Jimmy Kavanagh (Fine Gael), Donal Coyle (Fianna Fáil), Donal Mandy Kelly (Fianna Fáil); Ciaran Brogan (Fianna Fáil) and Michael McBride (non-party.)

Therefore, Bradley seems the one in most trouble, although Coyle is on the borderline as well, with Mary T Sweeney, still in the mix.
