Local elections: Three eliminated in Milford LEA and strongest candidate misses quota

In Milford, no candidates have reached the 2,058 quota and three have been eliminated, Vincent Bradley (Non-Party), Kathleen Deeney (Aontú) and Aaron Sweeney (Fine Gael)

Local elections: Two eliminated in Milford LEA and strongest candidate misses quota

The first count for Milford LEA was announced at the Aura Leisure Centre, Letterkenny

Declan Meehan, Milford LEA’s strongest candidate in Saturday’s tallies, has not reached the quota in the second count

Two candidates were eliminated in the first round, Vincent Bradley (Non-Party) and Kathleen Deeney (Aontú), their votes will now be transferred. The eliminated candidates both received less than 200 in the count and no candidate has reached the quota of 2,058 in the first count. 

The electorate consists of 13,178 people and 8,230 returned valid votes. 

The results of count one are as follows:

Declan Meehan (Non-Party) has received 1,739; Liam Blaney (Fianna Fáil) is at 1,563; Pauric McGarvey (Non-Party) has 1,391; John O’Donnell (Non-Party) has 1,324; Maria Doherty (Sinn Féin) has 934; Eamonn Jackson (100% Redress) has 502; Aaron Sweeney (Fine Gael) has 500 respectively. 

The results of count two are as follows: 

Declan Meehan (Non-Party) has received 23 transferred votes which totals 1,762; Liam Blaney (Fianna Fáil) gained 35 transfers, now having 1,598 votes; Pauric McGarvey (Non-Party) gained 55, which leaves him at 1,446; John O’Donnell (Non-Party) received 20, totaling 1,344; Maria Doherty (Sinn Féin) has gained 17, she now has 951; Eamonn Jackson (100% Redress) gained 62, leaving him at 564.

Fine Gael’s Aaron Sweeney has been eliminated on count two having received a total of 515 including transfers. Still, no candidate has reached the quota. There was a total of 277 votes distributed and a total of 50 papers were non-transferable.
