Local Elections: Two councillors within sight of quota in Dongeal LEA

With Donegal LEA Count Seven underway in the St John Bosco Centre, Donegal Town, Cllr Micheál Naughton (FF) looks set to be elected on the next count.

He is only 29 votes of the quota, and should gain at least that from the distribution of Diarmaid Doherty's votes.

Hot on his heels is Cllr Noel Jordan (SF) who needs another 174 votes to get him over the line. Sinn Féin colleague Cllr Michael McMahon is on 1613, and could take a sizeable chunk of fellow Bundoran man Diarmaid Doherty's votes.

Jimmy Brogan (Ind) remains in a strong position in fourth place on 1528; followed by Pauric Kennedy (Ind) on 1,390.

The Fine Gael candidates are hot on his heels, with Barry Sweeny on 1,360 and Manus Boyle with 1,352 votes.

Cllr Niamh Kennedy is making good inroads, and sits on 1,321.

Martin Hegarty (FF) has increased to 891.
