The Rotary Club Letterkenny raised over €9,000 through the Christmas Tree Appeal in Letterkenny Shopping Centre.

St Vincent De Paul and the Creeslough Fund will be among the beneficiaries.

The money was raised through the Christmas Tree of Remembrance in Letterkenny Shopping Centre from December 9 to 24. Those making a donation could write the name of a deceased loved one on a yellow ribbon which was then tied to the tree.

It is a really beautiful way of remembering departed family and friends at Christmastime while supporting worthy organisations that benefit the local community.

A spokesperson said: “Thanks to every person that donated and popped to the tree to say hello!"

There will be a Church Service for the dedication of Ribbons on Sunday, January 8 at 3pm in the Church of The Irish Martyrs, Letterkenny. Everyone is welcome and there will be a cup of tea afterwards.
