A tree fell at Long Brae, Castlefin
Driving conditions are treacherous on some roads in Donegal as strong wind and rain batter the county.
The N56 road at Carrowcannon, Falcarragh is currently closed due to serious flooding on the carriageway.
Donegal County Council said: “Local diversions are in place.
“Motorists are advised to drive with care as there is a lot of surface water on all roads as a result of todays heavy rainfall.”
A fallen tree caused a blockage at Long Brae, Castlefin on Thursday evening.
There are reports of a large volume of water on the road from New Mills to Letterkenny and also on the Curraghmone-Welchtow road in Ballybofey.
In Muff, there is a lot of surface water on the R238 at Ture.
Forecasters have warned that winds will reach storm force in coastal areas. The public have been warned of potential downed trees and power outages.
A Status Orange wind alert and a Status Yellow rainfall alert were issued by Met Éireann.
Weather forecasters predict that 'frequent heavy showers or longer spells of rain will lead to localised flooding today and tonight.'#
