Animals in Need is well known for rescuing animals of all shapes and sizes across Donegal.
But this week, the charity assisted in a rescue around 9,500km away in Peru.
A spokesperson took to social media to explain how the local animal rescue charity suddenly went international.
"A friend and supporter contacted us from Peru where she was on holidays," said the spokesperson.
"This tiny newborn kitten [pictured] was found in the roof with the umbilical cord still attached."
Taking on the role of mummy cat to the tiny kitten, the woman then turned to Animals in Need volunteers in Donegal Town for guidance on what to do next.
"They brought the kitten to the vet for a check up and correct kitten formula as there was no sign of the mum and contacted our kitten nursery foster mum to get all the practical advice she could offer to help this little guy," said the spokesperson.
"We wish her the very best with her little Paddington kitten."
More information on the work of the animal rescue charity can be found at www.animalsinneeddonegal.com or on the Animals In Need Facebook page.
Anyone who wishes to support the work of the organisation can donate €2 to AIN’s ‘Help Us To Help Them’ fundraising appeal by texting the word ‘KITTEN’ to 50300. Every last cent goes directly to the rescued animals for their food, bedding, vet bills, worming treatment and vaccinations.
People can also support Animals In Need and pick up a great bargain at the same time by shopping in the charity shop located in Donegal Town in the car park between Specsavers and Aldi.
For those wishing to support in a more hands-on way, Information on adoption, fostering, volunteering etc is available by contacting the main helpline on 087 1356188.
