A man will be hauled before court today after a patrol car was burnt out at Castlefin Garda Station this weekend.
The man, who is aged in his 30s and from the Castlefin area, was arrested on Saturday afternoon.
The man remains in Garda custody. He is expected to be charged before a sitting of Letterkenny District Court this morning.
“An Garda Síochána are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred near Castlefin Garda station on the morning of Saturday 21st January 2023,” a Garda spokesperson said.
“Shortly before 4.15am on Saturday, a marked Garda patrol vehicle that was parked outside the Garda station was discovered on fire.
“The fire was extinguished by local fire services. No injuries were reported.”
Just after 5.30pm on Saturday, a man was arrested when Gardai, including officers from the Armed Support Unit, swooped on a house.
The man was detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
