Cash for Active Travel projects in Donegal
Donegal County Council is to receive €4.5m this year for walking and cycling infrastructure.
This substantial investment will fund approximately 36 Active Travel projects in Donegal.
This includes the development of segregated cycle lanes and widened footpaths, new walking and cycling bridges, and new pedestrian crossings.
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue today confirmed that the National Transport Authority (NTA) has allocated this money.
"This will help to make our communities safer and more accessible," he said.
As a key part of this announcement, Active Travel funding will ensure that the Safe Routes to School programme will continue to provide safer cycling and walking facilities for many more schools across the country. Construction is expected on dozens of front-of-school treatments throughout 2023.
