Donegal County Council have given the go-ahead for a new three-storey building in Buncrana that will contain retail units and apartments.
Brendan McConnell has been granted planning permission, subject to 14 conditions, for the development at Ardaravan, Buncrana.
Permission was initially sought in early 2022 and, after further information was sought, the way has been paved now for the development to commence.
The three-storey building will consist of four retail units and an office on the ground floor, four apartments on the first floor and a further four apartments on the third floor.
The planning application also provided for connection to the main sewer and all ancillary services.
Among the conditions laid down by the local authority are that the apartment dwellings shall only be used and/or let as permanent homes. .
They are not be used for the purposes of a holiday homes or for short term letting purposes.
The electrical, broadband/internet and telephone services must be underground.
A construction traffic management plan must be submitted to the planning authority.
Prior to any works commencing, the developer must provide 'adequate security' to the planning authority in order to ensure the satisfactory restoration/re-instatement of the site. The developer is to lodge a bond, cash deposit or other such security in the sum of €40,000.
The developer must also pay a contribution totalling €48,113.60 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the planning authority that is already provided or is intended will be provided.
