Anniversary of Mary Boyle prompts calls for inquest and murder investigation

The twin sister of missing school girl Mary Boyle is calling for both an inquest and a murder investigation on the 46th anniversary of her disappearance.

Mary Boyle vanished from her grandmother’s home in Ballyshannon on March 18, 1977.

Ann Doherty is appealing for information on her twin-sister’s disappearance and urging people to come forward, she said: "Come forward, whatever little bit of information you have and put an end to it and give my family the closure that we need.

"I think at this stage there should be an inquest and there should be a murder investigation."

She said that those who come forward may do so anonymously.

She said she hopes to give her twin sister a proper burial and said it is very difficult for the family to endure not knowing where Mary is for 46 years.
