Pro and Anti Treaty Forces at Finner Camp, June 1922
Close relatives of those impacted by the Civil War in Donegal are being asked if they want to take part in a formal ceremony relating to this chapter in our history.
It is being described as a healing moment of reconciliation, remembering everyone who lost their lives in the conflict and is being organised by the Department of the Taoiseach. It will take place in the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin on Sunday, May 28.
The department wishes to ensure that some of the close relatives of those directly impacted by the Civil War have an opportunity to attend this national ceremony.
Due to capacity constraints, the department has proposed a maximum of five relatives to attend from each Local Authority area.
The expressions of interest applications are intended for close relatives of the families most affected by local events.
The event will be held outdoors in Dublin and will be televised.
Anyone wishing to submit an expression of interest please send your name, postal address, e-mail address and details of your family connection to the Civil War in Donegal, to the County Museum at museum@donegalcoco.ie by Monday next, April 24 by 4pm.
If the expressions of interest exceed the five places available, names will be chosen at random.
