Lightning has led to power cuts in parts of Donegal

Lightning strikes have left premises in Donegal without electricity.

While power was restored to most of those affected on Saturday evening, a number of areas have been left without electricity on Sunday morning, with well over 1,000 premises affected over the weekend.

ESB Network crews are working to repair any damage and restore power as quickly as possible.

In the wider Kilcar / Glencolmcille area, around 70 premises were affected on Sunday morning. Power has been restored to some customers, with work ongoing to repair the fault and return to full supply.

Close to 50 homes in businesses in the Stranorlar area are without power, while 20 premises in Ballyshannon which were without electricity have had power restored.
