Donegal people who wish to attend the annual National Day of Commemoration Ceremony, to honour all those Irishmen and Irishwomen who died in past wars or on service with the United Nations, can now apply for tickets.
The event is open to members of the public, but a ticket will be required to gain entry and takes place at Collins Barracks in Cork on Sunday, July 9 at 2pm.
Donegal people interested in attending the event are asked to email ndocinvitation@taoiseach.gov.ie to request a ticket by Wednesday, July 6, 2023.
The President, the Taoiseach, members of the Government, the Council of State, Dáil and Seanad Éireann, Diplomatic Corps, Judiciary and Northern Ireland representatives will attend the Commemoration.
The Band 1 Brigade, conducted by Captain Ben Jacob, will accompany soloist Gemma Ní Bhriain.
Representatives of the next-of-kin of those who died in past wars or on UN service, ex-servicemen's organisations, as well as relatives of the 1916 Leaders, have also been invited.
The ceremony includes a service by Faith, Belief and Broader Communities, followed by a wreath laying by the President on behalf of the people of Ireland.
The ceremony will conclude with an Air Corps flypast.
The nearest local commemoration ceremony to Donegal will also be held in the Quadrangle, University of Galway, University Road, Galway at 11am on the same date.
Members of the public wishing to attend these local ceremonies should arrive approximately 30 minutes before the start of the formal ceremony.
Other events are taking place in Kilkenny, Limerick and Waterford and the event will be broadcast on RTÉ.
