Donegal has the second smallest increase in house prices nationally since 2010

Donegal has the second smallest increase in house prices nationally since 2010

House prices in Donegal have increased by €31,394.10 since 2010

The findings of a study just released show that Donegal has the second smallest increase in house prices in the 26 counties of the Republic of Ireland over a 12-year period.

In 2010, the average price of a house in Donegal was €151,828.69, with the 2022 figure being €183,222.79, which is a difference of €31,394.10, or 21 percent.

It places Donegal 25th on the list, with only Longford, who has seen an increase of 17 percent in the same time period. The 2022 average price of a house in Donegal is only more expensive than Longford (€159,490.11), Leitrim (€170,126.08) and Roscommon (€174,945.45)

County Dublin comes first with an 80% price increase over the years, from €332,941.86 to €598,906.89, therefore having a total rise of €265,955.03. The growth is considerably higher than any other on the list, making Dublin almost a separate case compared to the other counties.

Second on the list is Wicklow, with a 68% increase. In 2010 the average price for a house was €293,963.28, meanwhile, in 2022, it was €494,460.59 - a rise of €200,497.31. The county of Kildare is third, with a 63% increase from 2010 to 2022. The average price for a house went from €240,093.71 to €391,021.88, a difference of €150,928.17.

Further down on the list, Westmeath takes fourth place with a 55% increase, while Laois closes the top five with a 53% increase. Respectively the change in cost has been €87,710.80 and €87,416.01.
