The beautiful wooden animal carvings at the MacManus Estate have brought a huge amount of joy to visitors to the woodland walk at Rossylongan in Donegal Town.

But sadly, one of the pieces by Gintas Carving has been stolen. The theft of the handcarved wooden frog sculpture took place on Thursday last, August 3 some time after 6pm. The sculpture is engraved with the artist's mark, GINTAS CARVING.

A garda spokesperson said: "We appeal to anybody who was in the area of Rossylongan Wood on Thursday evening and who may have observed any suspicious activity to make contact with Gardaí.

"If anybody has any information in relation to the current location of this sculpture we ask them to contact Gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071 9858530. The Garda Confidential line may be reached on 1800 666 111."

There is much dismay locally that this theft has taken place. Extensive work was recently carried out at the amenity to open up the walkways, provide parking and information, and make this a place to enjoy for all the family.

The wooden sculptures have been a big talking point, providing a fun, free attraction in a beautiful outdoor location for people of all ages to enjoy. It is hoped that the frog will soon be returned to MacManus Estate where it can be enjoyed alongside the other sculptures including the bear chair, heron, dolphin, squirrels, otter, rabbit and many more.
