Tributes have been paid following the death of Annie Mongan, a key figure in the Donegal Travellers Project.
Ms Mongan passed away peacefully at the Donegal Hospice on Monday.
She played a major role in the development of the Donegal Travellers Project since its inception in 1995 and acted as a Community Health Worker.
In 2018, alongside Chrissie McGinley, she was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Donegal Travellers Project are deeply saddened on the passing of our dear colleague and friend,” DTP said in a tribute.
“Annie was a kind, caring, loving woman who will be forever in our heart, minds and deeply missed by many.”
Late of Cashel Park, Lisnennan, Letterkenny, Annie’s death is deeply regretted by her loving husband Paddy, daughter Geraldine, sons Patrick and Martin, son-in-law Martin, daughters-in-law Lisa and Bridget-Marie, grandchildren, great-grandchild, brothers Thomas, Charlie, Martin and Michael, sisters Ellie, Mary, Winnie and Kathleen, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by brother John and grandchildren Gerard-Pio and Ann-Alishia.
Annie’s funeral will take place on Thursday morning at 11am at the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Gortlee, Letterkenny with burial afterwards in New Leck Cemetery.
