Gardaí are encouraging members of the public in Donegal to light up and lock up as evenings begin to grow darker.
Gardaí say that whether you are at home or going out remember to turn on some lights, use timer switches, lock all doors and windows and use an alarm.
They also as people to use an alarm and to store keys away from windows.
They say: "Don’t keep large amounts of cash or jewellery in the house and report any suspicious activity in your area to gardaí immediately."
