There was a happy outcome for a pet owner whose cat Vitali went missing in Louth five weeks ago.

It emerged that Vitali has been living in Newtowncunningham for the last month.

Animals in Need were contacted about the cat in an attempt to find its owner. The charity put a call-out on social media.

A spokesperson said: “The post was shared and much to our surprise we were contacted by a lady in Louth who recognised the sad wee face as her cat, Vitali, missing for five weeks.

“She travelled up to Donegal to be reunited with him and checked over at the vet after his adventure.

“Vitali is now back home and settling back in with his family and he is very grounded”

As to how he came so far? A neighbour was on holiday in Donegal and it would seem that Vitali inadvertently travelled with them.

“The power of Facebook strikes again,” said the Animals in Need spokesperson.

“Keep sharing posts and other lost pets might get home.”

More information on the charity’s rescue work can be found on the Animals in Need Donegal Facebook page.
