UPDATE: Three hospitalised after car strikes pedestrians in Donegal Town

A road traffic incident in Donegal Town has led to three people being hospitalised and to roads in the town centre being closed.

The incident is understood to have occurred in the vicinity of the Tyrconnell Street / Castle Street on Wednesday evening at approximately 8pm. 

The three injured people, who gardaí say are in their 50s and 60s, were in an outdoor seating area when a vehicle accidentally manoeuvred into the area. One woman is in a serious condition.

A Garda spokesperson told Donegal Live that the three people were removed from the scene to Letterkenny University Hospital.

No further information on their condition is being released at present. 

Emergency services are at the scene and investigations are ongoing.

Tyrconnell Street and Castle Street remain closed. Bridge Street has reopened to traffic. 

People are asked to avoid the area.
