Planning permission has been granted for significant changes to the development at the Mullans, Donegal Town.
The new plans still include a swimming pool and associated facilities, but will see significantly more residential units than originally planned.
Originally hailed as a modern, flagship development for Donegal Town, the initial plans included housing, a swimming pool, transport hub, community and leisure building, a bulky goods building and office facilities.
However, conditional planning permission has been granted for a number of modifications to the major site just outside Donegal Town. Changes include the omission of the bulky goods building and the community and leisure building to allow for the construction of an additional 28 houses. This includes four two-bedroom houses, eight three-bedroom houses, 12 four-bedroom houses and four five-bedroom houses. The new application also includes construction of an apartment block consisting of four five-bedroom houses, and a second block with one single bedroom apartment and five two-bedroom apartments.
Plans remain in place for a building with a swimming pool and all associated facilities including plant room at ground floor level. First and second floors of this building will have apartments of various sizes.
The original site for the transportation hub will instead have a new building with a childcare facility and outdoor play area, an office hug and six apartments.
However, the transportation hub remains on track at an alternative location within the site boundaries. It will include a bus shelter kiosk.
Plans for a coffee shop have been scrapped.
New plans also include all associated site development works including access roads, alterations to existing road layout, car parking facilities, footpaths, cycle lanes, open space amenities and public lighting.
