Sprint Educational Supplies has announced they are closing both Donegal branches on October 31.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that we are closing both of our stores in Letterkenny and Donegal Town on the 31st of October, this decision wasn't made lightly,” Sprint shared on social media.
Sprint is a long-standing and well-known business in Donegal with loyal customers. The business specialises in affordable back-to-school essentials such as stationery, art supplies and school books.
Sprint was established in 1992 by former teacher Thomas Gallagher and in May 2019 the company changed ownership. The new owners shared the same ethos and attempted to run the business in the same way but they ran into unforeseen issues.
“Since we took over the stores in 2019, we have had to deal with Covid, the increase of online shopping, the never-ending increasing costs of running a small business and the new Government book scheme which has made it impossible for our business to survive.
Sprint went on to thank all customers and staff and announce that they will be hosting a closing down sale from Tuesday, October 24 and officially closing on Tuesday, October 31.
“We will be closing on Monday, the 23rd of October, to prepare for our closing down sale, which will start on Tuesday, the 24th of October, at 9 a.m.
“Our website will no longer be in operation so we can avoid any confusion.
“Thanks to everyone who has supported us on our journey, and please remember to shop local,” Sprint Educational Supplies said.
