Cathaoirleach Michael Mc Clafferty has said he wishes to condemn the manner in which a three 1-year-old sheep were dumped over a ditch in the Ardsbeg area near the water treatment plant for both Gortahork and Falcarragh.
"I want to condemn this behaviour in the strongest possible terms. There are ways of disposing of animals through proper channels. I appreciate this is a big loss for any farmer to lose three together possibly via white frost no doubt but threatening a local water supply is dangerous," he said.
He said that one-hundred and twenty euro would have disposed properly of the sheep.
Cllr McClafferty said he is disgusted in relation to the amount of rubbish being dumped along the county's roadsides, in fields and in forested areas.
"It is simply not good enough and strict penalties or fines are needed to be put in place to try and stamp it out. A dozen bags of rubbish were lifted recently out of bushes just off the N56 at Murroe, Dunfanaghy with Murroe school close by. This is shameful for children to witness on there way to school," Cllr Mc Clafferty said.
Tyres were also dumped recently in the Derryreel area of Falcarragh and nearby bags of nappies were also found in the forest.
"This is totally unaceptable," Cllr Mc Clafferty said.
