Daniel O'Reilly, Hughie Sweeney and David Crawford at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday night
Three Donegal men were awarded their international caps for being part of the international squad who took part in the European Championships in Italy as part of Ireland’s first-ever Down Syndrome Futsal team.
Hughie Sweeney from Gweedore, Letterkenny's Daniel O’Reilly, and David Crawford of Donegal Town flew the flag for Ireland in Padova in September.
The team played games against Italy, Portugal and Turkey at the Palazzetto Dello Sport, Salboro. The first Irish goal was scored by Daniel, David proved exceptional in goal throughout the week and Hughie was the team’s joint top goal scorer, netting twice during the course of the tournament.
All three were guests of the Football Association of Ireland on Tuesday night for the international friendly against New Zealand in Dublin, where they were joined by the rest of the squad.
