Two south-west Donegal men who last month ran The Irish Life Dublin Marathon for charity have presented a cheque to a local organisation that helps children with additional needs
Glenties native Martin Doherty (53) and Joe Boyle (54) from Ardara completed the marathon after four months of intensive training to fundraise for Ability Rocks, which was established by Martin Shovelin in Narin, Portnoo. The pair raised a total amount of €4,840 and presented the cheque to the group at the Dolmen Centre, Narin.

“We would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this very worthwhile local cause, it is very much appreciated,” Martin Doherty told DonegalLive.
“Martin Doherty and Joe Boyle ran the Dublin City Marathon for us, raising an amazing amount we thank you so much,” Ability Rocks shared on social media.
Ability Rocks was established to facilitate children with additional needs to actively participate in sports. The group meets every Monday evening in the Dolmen Centre and the coaches take the children on a one-to-one basis to practise various sports. The group currently operates with 40 children and 40 coaches.
