The 'Ask For Angela' Campaign is a safety initiative coordinated to keep people safe across Donegal and elsewhere.
Garda Sergeant Charlene Anderson wishes to issue a reminder about the initiative as many people go out socialising at this time of the year before Christmas. The Campaign seeks to assist people who find themselves in an unsafe or vulnerable situation whilst socialising in venues such as bars and clubs.
This initiative encourages individuals to approach a member of staff in any licensed premises that supports the Ask for Angela Campaign thereby alerting that staff member that they require help and/or are seeking to remove themselves from the situation.
All establishments that support the 'Ask for Angela' Campaign across Donegal will be easily recognisable as they will display the 'Ask for Angela' Posters and window stickers on their premises.
If you go to the bar and ‘Ask For Angela’ the bar staff will know you need help to get out of your situation and they will discreetly help you.
The 'Ask For Angela' Campaign is a collaboration between An Garda Siochana, The Vintners Association, The Hoteliers Federation and the Joint Policing Committee Donegal.
The importance of this Campaign cannot be underestimated particularly at a time when online dating has reached an all-time peak.
The campaign first began in England in 2016 but was only brought to Donegal in 2022.
