Doctors at the Scally McDaid Roarty Medical Practice have warned that hospitals and GP surgeries are creaking at the seams with an unprecedented number of patients presenting with respiratory tract infections.
Those at the medical practice posted a statement to social media this morning, warning that some patients have become very ill. They have also urged people to get the flu vaccine.
While the number of those presenting with Covid and flu infections remain high there has been a reduction in the number of RSV infections.
"Donegal has the highest levels of flu in the whole Saolta, western region, but also the lowest level of flu vaccine uptake. If you or your child are someone who is vulnerable for whatever reason, or if you care for or have contact with a vulnerable person, please, please get the flu vaccine. It could save a prolonged hospital stay or even your life," the post reads.
Contact the surgery for an appointment and watch this space for walk in flu vaccine clinics over the next few weeks. The children’s flu vaccine is pain free.
