Give blood Donegal

Donegal people urged to donate blood in upcoming clinics

"We never choose when to need blood. But we can choose when to give it."

That is the tagline of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS), and anyone who has been considering giving blood or is looking for a way to contribute meaningfully to society, can do so in Donegal this week.

Giving blood is a free and simple way to save the lives of people from unborn babies to accident victims, to cancer patients, and many more.

Blood is constantly in low supply and every single donation could be the difference between life and death for someone who is desperately in need of a transfusion.

There is a great sense of cameraderie at the clinics, and staff are always on hand to guide and support new or nervous donors.

The IBTS is holding mobile clinics in Donegal in the coming days. Donations are by appointment, which can be arranged by calling 1800 731 137 or online at https://giveblood.info/OnlineAppointment

There is also information on the website to inform new donors and those returning after a break.

People who lived in the UK are now eligible to donate blood.

There is information on what is involved in giving blood, how the donation is processed and used, and much more at the IBTS website giveblood.ie
