Update: Repairs have been carried out and the road has reopened

==========

Due to damage caused in Storm Isha and the approach of Storm Jocelyn, the Knader Road in Ballyshannon has been closed in the interest of public safety.

As safety and clearance work continues throughout the county in the wake of Storm Isha Cllr Barry Sweeny (FG) shared the update on this incident, saying: "Unfortunately a decision has been made to close the Knader road for safety reasons.

"A tree that partially fell onto an ESB pole yesterday is in a very dangerous position and there is major concern that it may come down in when storm Jocelyn arrives this evening.

"I have spoken to Council and ESB Networks who are flat out trying to make safe numerous dangerous situations, and we are hoping to have this situation tended to before this evening, but it may not be possible.

"I understand this will be a big inconvenience to many residents in the area, but health and safety is the overriding concern at this point.

"I'd like to thank the DCC Roads team and ESB Networks staff who are working extremely hard in very difficult conditions to try to restore power and keep us safe."
